This resource offers assitance for obtaining exams/glasses for children who qualifiy for services. In order to qualify for services your child must:

  • Be under the age of 18
  • Be a legal citizen/resident of the U.S
  • Have failed an eye screening, be unable to comeplete a vision screening, or have an eye concern
  • Be insured or financially unable to pay a co-pay

New Eyes “Glasses for those in need”

New Eyes provides a basic pair of free glasses to children who meet their requirements:

  • Your child must have an eyeglass prescription dated within the last 24 months including a pupillary distance measurement (the following link can be used to determine this if it is not included with the current prescription https://new-eyes.org/pdmeasurement
  • You will be required to upload verification of need (e.g. a photo or screenshot of your SNAP benefits, unemployment assistance, most recent tax return, or oter confirmation of financial need)
  • You will be required to pay a non-refundable $10 applicaiton fee 
  • You will receive an approval decision via email within 48 hours of submission

 

Additional Assistance:

  • Most insurance plans cover certain preventative services without co-pay which can include vision screenings for children. Call your insurance provider to establish what services are covered.
