Kemp Academy

PHILOSOPHY:

To educate all students in a way that fosters innovation, collaboration, communication, and curiosity to prepare students for a competitive workforce that will enrich our community.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS:

Student must obtain an application from the High School counselor and complete. The student would then turn the Application back to the counselor for approval from an admittance committee.

    • Academy is a program operated through Kemp ISD to assist “at risk” students in recovering their credits and maintaining their momentum toward graduation.
    • Academy is a separate high school in the Kemp Independent School District.
    • The academy is not an “early graduation” program, though some students are able to achieve such, by completing their credits at an accelerated pace.  KHS students who do not meet the Academy criteria, but who are seeking early graduation should speak with their counselors about other options. 
    • Academy is not an affiliate or extension of Kemp High School
    • Academy is not a temporary placement.  Students who begin the program may not opt out after enrollment and may only be transferred back to KHS upon administrative suggestion and approval.

KEMP ACADEMY CLASSROOM RULES

  • Be courteous, cooperative, and respectful
  • Work on assigned work during work times
  • Comply with all staff directives and rules, procedures, and schedule
  • Phones on silent and put away out of signed except during scheduled breaks.
  • If teacher allows- music, use earbuds and ensure noise level does not disrupt others.
  • Use language and behavior compliant with Kemp ISD Student Code of Conduct and Kemp Academy rules
  • Kemp ISD Student Code of Conduct including Grooming and Dress provisions apply.

 

*Understand that Kemp Academy is a privilege and if your behavior impedes others learning you can be un-enrolled and put back onto the High School campus. We want you here, so be sure you are working just as hard as we are to help you!
