Subject: Important District Calendar Update

Dear Kemp ISD Families and Staff,

After careful consideration, the Kemp ISD School Board has decided to make the following 2023 – 2024 School Calendar adjustments:

1. **Calendar Change:** May 6, 2024, originally designated as an “Instructional Day” will now be a "Professional Development Day," for staff and “Student Holiday” for all students. 

2. **Extended School Day:** To make up for lost instructional minutes, the board has approved the addition of twelve minutes to each school day - six minutes at the beginning and six minutes at the end of each school day. This change is effective immediately, January 23, 2024. The morning/tardy bell will now ring at 7:39 AM and the afternoon/dismissal bell will ring at 3:41 PM.
